Q&A: Is it safe to take fish oil supplements with ... - Health and Fitness

Question by C.G.: Is it safe to take fish oil supplements with shellfish allergies?
I am allergic to all shellfish except shrimp, and I break out in hives or vomit. My throat has never closed. My friend suggested taking fish oil supplements for heart health when I work out as well as it will clear up my skin. The bottle says it includes anchovies, which I?ve never eaten. Are those considered fish or shellfish? Will I be okay to take them?

Anchovies are fish. You should be safe taking a fish oil pill as long as you?ve never had any adverse reactions to fish.

If you get any sort of reaction from the pill, I?d stop taking it and ask your doctor if there?s one he can recommend.
